Sherry Tse performed the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw
Sherry Tse, a violin prodigy from Hong Kong, China, performed the Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto with the Bulgarian Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on October 6. This famous Chinese piece was performed for the first time by such a young performer, which shocked the nearly 2,000 audience. Sherry once received personal lessons from Professor He Zhanhao, now 91 years old, the composer of Butterfly Lovers’. It is no wonder that she, who has just turned eleven, can perfectly perform this emotionally complex piece. Sherry started studying violin at the age of four and is currently studying with Professor Robert Canetti. In October 2021, at the age of eight, she performed for the first time as a soloist with a symphony orchestra. She had already performed at the Schönbrunn Palace Theater in Vienna, the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Mozarteum Grosser Saal in Salzburg, the Liszt Concert Hall in Budapest, the Szolnok Aba-Novák Agora Cultural Center, the Saigon Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City, the Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert Hall…etc. With extensive performing experience, it is not surprising that she did extremely well on stage this time. Sherry’s performance was brilliant and she received standing ovation from the audience.
